I can't wait...

Spring is here, and I'm in heaven.

I'm sitting on the floor near the back door with the computer set up on a little table...because it's so gorgeous.

I need to get better at this. Adding blogger to my collection of hats hasn't quite caught on yet, but it will! I promise you!

Here's a bit of what I'm up to:

WHAT I'M READING:

I'm almost finished reading through Sowing by Angie Grigaliunas. I volunteered to do a read through for her, and I've been pleasantly surprised by the deep, intricate plot line!

If you like gritty, dystopian and fantasy, this may be right up your alley.

A few warnings: Sowing includes language, gritty violence, and triggering topics (including rape and abuse).

Grigaliunas has garnered enthusiastic readers, and it's no wonder with such larger than life characters!

ALSO:

HOW TO MARKET A BOOK by Joanna Penn has been sitting in my Kindle for far too long. I cracked it open yesterday, and my pen is flying as I take notes and learn more about the hardest part of self-publishing (for me!)...MARKETING.

WHAT'S NEXT?

A while back I asked for epic fantasy recs on a couple different platforms. I have a long list, and I'll be digging in after I finish Sowing! If you have a recommendation for me, let me know! Especially those available on KU!

WRITING UPDATE:

For the first time, I've found myself plotting a story...and loving every minute.

In the fiction writing world, there are those who plot and those who pants (fly by the seat of their pants..). Then there are those who fall somewhere in the middle.

I have always been a pantser. I wrote Slave and all the subsequent books without an outline. I started on page one and wrote until the story was done.

But suddenly, with this new story, I find myself outlining and plotting in a way I never, ever thought I'd be able to! It's exciting! And I'm thinking this one will need a map... *rubs hands together excitedly*

I'll update when I've reached my first milestone...30,000 words!

I can't wait to share this new story with you!!

FUN NEWS!

On Amazon, SLAVE (BOOK ONE) has been sitting cozy on the TOP 100 list for YA/Dystopian/Romance (with books like The Selection, The Divergent Series, and so many more!) for the last couple weeks, as well as the TOP 100 list for YA/Politics&Government!

Thank you all so much for your support! Word of mouth is the most powerful marketing, so be sure to let your friends know what books you're loving! It makes all the difference for authors!

And thank you to everyone who has left reviews on any of the Slave Series books! I'm grateful!

I hope you're all well and enjoying beautiful spring weather! It'll be hot in Japan soon, so I'm soaking up every single minute.

Be brave and do something new today! Zero in on that dream and take a step toward it...even just one!

I believe in you!

Always,

Laura Fran
